KENYA WOMEN IN LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT GALA DINNER

đź“Ť Four Points, Airport

ABOUT EVENT
March is Women’s History Month, and there’s no better time than now to spotlight women in the logistics industry, which is traditionally associated with men. Though women continue to be a minority in this field, they’ve made their mark on the industry throughout history and are gaining greater representation within logistics today. From truck drivers to supply chain management executives, women succeed in various roles across the supply chain and help propel the industry forward.
Despite advancements in logistics and gender equity, many women in logistics are powerfully outnumbered at work or trade shows, networking events and educational sessions. In 2022, the Logistics Board (K) began recognizing women in the logistics and transport industry and formed the Kenya Women In Logistics and Transport (KWiLT) Forum to conduct activities for women in the industry.

OUR AIM
Our main aim is to promote the status of women in Logistics, Transport and supply chain to bring together those who aid the career development of women, and to provide a support network for women in the sector. We have a vision of being the most sought-after organization for the advocacy and empowerment of women in the Logistics and Transport industry. Our work towards this goal is concentrated into four key areas: Leadership, Mentorship, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment. Within these areas, we work to bring change to our industry and the wider economy.

NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY 28 JUNE

đź“Ť Nairobi

ABOUT EVENT
National Logistics Day is celebrated on June 28 every year to honor the work of the hardworking professionals in the logistics sector. It plays a huge role in the progress of the economy, especially in a country like Kenya. Everything that you order online reaches you through a vast network of Distributors, Shippers, and Transporters who take care that you receive the correct item on time and in perfect condition, regardless of the distance or weather.

WHY WE CELEBRATE NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY
It honors the Unsung Heroes of the Economy. We normally know very little about the hard work that logistics professionals put in to make our lives comfortable. Many of them spend days in the open sea without any internet access. They even spend important holidays working in warehouses and on the road instead of being with their families. National Logistics Day helps us recognize and appreciate the dedication of these people. It Makes us Responsible Consumers. By knowing how far goods have to travel before reaching our homes, we can make better decisions about the food, clothes, and other products that we buy. The longer that something travels before reaching our stores, the greater its environmental impact. If we understand the logistics networks, we can choose to buy goods that are delivered from nearby locations.
It Supports Local Communities
It is important to support local businesses such as farms and factories situated near our communities as these can be cheaper because of the shorter distance. Not only does this help us save money but it also helps small, local businesses to flourish without having to spend large amounts on transporting their products to distant markets and communities.

KENYA WOMEN IN LOGISTICS, TRANSPORT & SUPPLY CHAIN DINNER

đź“Ť The Boma Hotel

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Logistics, Transport & Supply Chain permeates every industry and business sector in the world; retail, life sciences, fashion, technology, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, health, transport and so on.
This means that in addition to needing drivers and warehouse operatives, there’s also a requirement for business development and customer-facing personnel with expertise in the industries in which customers operate.
The industry needs a more diverse workforce, but it suffers from poor perceptions about career opportunities, which has led to a debate around skills gaps and a lack of gender diversity. Nearly 1m people work in logistics, transport & supply chain sector in Kenya. But less than a quarter of these employees are female, according to the World Bank Data. Kenya Women in Logistics, Transport & Supply Chain is going to be launched officially by Logistics Board (LoB) this year 2022, 8th March as the whole world will be celebrating International Women Day.

OUR AIM
Our main aim is to promote the status of women in Logistics, Transport and supply chain to bring together those who aid the career development of women, and to provide a support network for women in the sector. We have a vision of being the most sought after organization for advocacy and empowerment of women in the Logistics and Transport industry.
